DIB is a politically independent NGO that was originally founded in 1988 under the name of “Danish International Human Settlement Service” with the object to promote sustainable settlements through planning and settlement programs in developing countries.

The organization aimed to fulfil the role as a partner for public authorities, private companies and other NGOs with a focus on sustainable settlement. However, since 2014, the focus has evolved from sustainable settlements to now be about education, climate and environment.

Today our strategy attaches great importance to cooperation, advocacy, capacity building and support for civil society organizations in developing countries. Our work now includes disaster prevention, education and sustainable management of natural resources.
